Performance assessment of fired bricks incorporating pomegranate peels waste

Abstract This research investigated the reuse potential of pomegranate peels waste (PPW) in production fired clay bricks with improved thermo-physical and mechanical properties. PPW was used as a substitute for natural different replacement ratios ranging from 0 to 12.5% stride 2.5 wt%. The impact adding on compressive strength, total porosity, water absorption, bulk density, thermal conductivity microstructure characteristics has been assessed at 900, 1000 1100 °C. With increase ratio, strength decreased. obtained results confirm possibility using sustainable pore forming agent brick industry. incorporation 12.5 wt% showed lowest density (1230 kg/m 3 ), (0.2 W/mK), (5.5 MPa), highest absorption (38%), porosity (48%) satisfies minimum acceptable requirements bricks. contribution newly developed energy consumption performance building model evaluated by DesignBuilder simulation software.
